Nailing Air Cooler Specs for Summer 2018

A good air cooler makes the summer that much easier to sail through. While the market is filled with products of different shapes and specifications, the nitty-gritty of selecting the best air cooler are important. Here’s what you need to look out for when buying a room air cooler this summer 2018.

Understand the room size

While small rooms are best cooled with compact and smaller spot coolers, larger living spaces require room coolers, which are bulkier and deliver powerful airflow that is best-suited for cooling large spaces.

When you are looking for an air cooler for larger outdoor spaces like a patio or backyard, go for an outdoor cooler that features a large water tank and an exceedingly powerful airflow. If combating a higher degree of heat is your goal this summer, then you can go for a desert cooler as well, however, if your room is small and the temperature is soaring too high, a room cooler will still be able to suffice your cooling requirement.

Check the airflow

Air coolers are available in various sizes to fit the requirements of your desired living space. The CFM (cubic feet per minute) rating of an air cooler indicates its air delivery. The higher its CFM rating, the wider would be the area of its cooling. The CFM can help you determine whether the air cooler of your choice is also suitable for the room of your choice or not.

Pay attention to the tank size

While water tanks do not impact the performance of room air coolers per se, it is still a time-consuming activity to refill the tank over and over. Therefore, you should opt for large tanks when the room to be cooled is larger or is located outdoors. Some outdoor coolers are equipped with hose connectors allowing you to connect a continuous water supply, eliminating the need to refill.

Ice Compartments add Coolness

While coolers come with a variety of features, some important ones must be kept in mind to maximize comfort and efficiency. Some air coolers offer an ice compartment to further cool down the temperature of the water in the cooler’s tank while some others have a separate compartment to put in an air freshener.

Cooling Pads for Thick Absorbancy

Most air coolers today feature honeycomb pads that are designed to provide maximum cooling and longevity. These cooling pads hold the water in and when warm air passes through these pads, the water evaporates which results in a much cooler air. Check for pad thickness as well – you should go for ideally at least 90 mm thick – to cool the air well. Quilo’s quiet air coolers feature special cooling pads to efficiently cool the surrounding air. With a larger surface area, they result in better evaporation and cooling as well.

Check for a Water Level Controller

Coolers with automatic water level controllers are helpful in maintaining water in the unit at pre-set levels. The automatic controller also allows or prevents the water from the connection to flow into the cooler tank, thereby preventing flooding of excess water in the unit.

Check Water Level Indicator

The indicator on the water tank helps determine the amount of water in the tank. This saves the effort of opening and closing the cooler to check the water level.

Adjustable speed for Versatility

Coolers with adjustable speed allow for regulation and control of the temperature according to your varying needs.

Quilo’s air coolers are environmentally friendly and affordable for homes and offices. When the water evaporates, and the fan blows the resultant cool air, a fresh and light breeze is released.
